The
BUGGY TUNGSTEN
Our
local rivers are full of Rainbow's which love the fast colder water
of the early season snow melt. This fly has work from N.Z to Australia,
the extra weight of the Tungsten and lead wrap gets the fly down
to the bottom. With buggy ness and flash that Rainbow's cannot resist,
a great all-round fly.
Hook:
Black Magic F caddis loop blend size 10-14.
Bead head: Tungsten.
Thread: 6/0 brown.
Body: Natural Rabbit Fur with Guard hairs.
Rib: Copper Wire Medium.
Weight: .15 Lead Wires.
Hackle: Brown Hen.
Thorax: Dark Rabbit Fur.
Shell Back: Holographic Tinsel.
How
to Tie:
Step
1: Pull Tungsten bead head over hook.
Step 2: Tie in thread and wrap lead around hook.
Step 3: Tie in copper wire at bottom end hook.
Step 4: Dub rabbit fur natural tapered to thorax.
Step 5: Wrap wire to form rib and pull out guard hairs for
buggy body.
Step 6: Tie in Holographic tinsel to form shell back.
Step 7: Tie in hackle.
Step 8: Dub dark rabbit fur to form thorax.
Step 9: Wrap hackle over thorax to head and tie off.
Step 10: Pull Holographic tinsel over thorax.
Step 11: Tie off and whip finish.
Step 12: Cut hackle under thorax for buggy look.
