HIGH COUNTRY RED TAG BEETLE

Hook: Tiemco 100 or Kamasan B170 size 12,14.
Thread: Uni 6/0 Black.
Tail: Red Wool, same as Red Tag.
Body: Lite Brite green, Spirit River.
Back: Tiewell shell back pearl or green beetle.
Hackle: Coachman Brown.

Step 1: Tie in Thread.
Step 2: Tie in Wool Red Tag style.
Step 3: Cut shell back to size and tie in
Step 4: Build up Body with Lite Brite to bulky beetle like body.
Step 5: Pull shell back over body and tie in.
Step 6: Tie in hackle, 4 wraps and tie off.

This Fly is basically a Beetle pattern designed by Murray High Country Outfitters owner. Mostly used as a searching pattern or when the Beetle's are on the wing. The fly is easy to see, sits high on the water and can be deadly from the high country to Tassie. Summer is Beetle time so don't forget to carry a few in your vest's
