At the moment there is very little snow on the ground apart from man made around the resorts. There has also been very little rain falling but the Browns are all through the river spawning so if you are up for a ski or fish it worth having a look at Paddys Corner as there are some beautiful fish there at the moment.

Lake Jindabyne is still falling and is about 46%. It is down to last years low and I have heard it is going to fall another 40cms. There are plenty of weed beds showing so we should be in for some good polaroiding. I had a walk earlier in the week and didn’t see many fish with Hatchery Bay showing a few.

The evenings have been good with some cracker Rainbows coming in on the change of light. There has also been some good Browns being caught in Creel Bay after dark. The weather has been quite mild so the nights are not too bad!

Because of the lack of snow I have been doing casting lessons for holiday makers so if you are up this way maybe get some lessons to brush up your casting. Practice is most important and getting the muscle memory happening makes a big difference. Keep a rod rigged at home and try to get 10 minutes when you get home from work or in your spare time.

We have plenty of fly tying material in to keep you busy over winter so if you have any inquiries about patterns or materials just let us know.

I have been busy tying for here and New Zealand and trying some new patterns as well.

If you are keen on a trip to the South Island we have some spots left in early March and later in April. These are fantastic trips with great fishing in wonderful surroundings so get a mate organised or come on your own. You can ring us ( 02 64562989 ) or e-mail us for all the details or check the web site. If the dates do not suit then let us know as we organize separate trips for groups of four.

Happy tying and enjoy your practice!!
